Mio cuore tu stai soffrendo…
A song that marked the youth, but also the childhood, of all Italians capable of listening to music: in 1963 Rita Pavore with Cuore exterminates everyone. An epoch-making success reinforced by the fact that on the B-side there was Il ballo del mattone (The Brick Dance), which on its own would have been a big hit anyway.
This song would consolidate Rita’s image and push her to attempt an international career with good results.
The original, written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, had been recorded by Wayne Newton and had been a success in his country. It never made it to Italy.
That Rita was a force of nature in those days is proved by the fact that they also had her record an English version, which also did very well in Great Britain.
