L’arca is an album of children’s songs originally written by Vinícius de Moraes and interpreted here by him and various other artists, starting with Sergio Endrigo, from whose well-established artistic partnership with Vinícius and Sergio Bardotti the entire project had originated. In addition to de Moraes and Endrigo, performances of the songs are alternated, in various combinations, by Marisa Sannia, i Ricchi e Poveri, Vittorio De Scalzi and a children’s choir called ‘The Plagues’.
The original lyrics by Vinícius, are adapted into Italian by Sergio Bardotti with the collaboration of Endrigo, music by Toquinho, Paulo Soledade and Luis Bacalov. Arrangements and conducting are by the latter.
The record, produced by Bardotti, was released by Fonit Cetra in the autumn of 1972. A large proportion of the songs on the album are dedicated to animals. Of these, Il Pappagallo, interpreted by Endrigo and published as the first single extract, is the best known.
