Lontano dagli occhi was the song composed by the Istrian singer-songwriter and presented in competition at the Sanremo Festival of 1969 by Sergio Endrigo paired with Mary Hopkin, the English singer of the Apple label of the Beatles (also featuring in the cover), who arrived from the international success of the nostalgic Those Were The Days. Endrigo had won the edition of the year before and was in the period of greatest popularity with the general public, and also in this case obtained an excellent response, reaching the 2nd place at the festival and placing 18th in the sales chart of the year. In the same year there was a cover of Aphrodite’s Child.
