The film tells the amusing story of a mad warship during the Second World War, and its stories and characters. These include those of an English general and the ship’s commander, who snipe at each other, the crew members and the two cooks originally from Sicily, Franco and Ciccio, who spend hours telling each other why war is no good, alternating these tales with some of Franco’s personal stories (such as his buxom wife who never undressed in front of him, and his village ‘enemy’ Pasquale Greco, who had watched his sister Rosalia from the hole).
