dedicated to MICHA VAN HOECKE
In memory of and on the occasion of Micha van Hoecke’s 80th birthday, Aria Tango (2013) is revived by Miki Matsuse for Balletto di Milano and Versiliana Festival. Made to pieces by Luis Bacalov, Oscar winner for the soundtrack of the film “Il postino,” which has its roots in Tango and Gypsy culture, it is a “choreographic poem” in which van Hoecke, without any didactic intent, in a timeless and surreal atmosphere, recounts states of mind, fears, fears, passions.

Luis Bacalov rewrote Vincenzo Bellini’s Norma in 2009 in the form of a Piano Concerto exclusively for pianist Rossana Tomassi Golkar . The work was performed in 2011 in Boston and New York with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Through the mastery of Rossana Tomassi Golkar, the notes written by Luis Bacalov fly over the piano, expressing the magic and sublime tragic nature of Norma.
Rossana Tomassi Golkar graduated with top marks from the Conservatorio di S. Cecilia in Rome and L’Aquila at a very young age, where she studied Pianoforte, Composition and Conducting. She teaches piano at the U. Giordano Conservatory in Foggia. Since 1988, she has been playing all over the world, at traditional institutions and theatres. She has performed in Europe, Japan, Australia, Argentina and Mexico. She has toured extensively in the United States and Canada.
