John J. Anderson, an exponent of the New York underworld now on the road to decline, is hired to carry out a murder. The designated victim is an old general of the Argentinean army who has been guilty in the past of horrible crimes against his people. It is then for John to leave for a few days his partner and her little daughter, Jenny, to go to Buenos Aires where the general currently resides. Anderson is torn between the sorrow of leaving his women with whom he has rebuilt a quiet and satisfying life and the pride of proving once again that he is the best and most reliable killer in his circle.
Once in Buenos Aires, things get complicated, starting with the fact that the general is hospitalized due to a small accident. This setback will inevitably prolong his stay in Argentina. After a meeting with local accomplices, he runs into two tango dancers almost by chance and is fascinated by them. He begins to attend a milonga and takes tango lessons from a young woman who introduces him to the environment. From here on it’s all about passion for the dance and the organization of the crime. Events precipitate and Anderson will be forced to act on his own with unpredictable consequences.
Ambiguous fate: a man ready to play with death finds himself playing with a dance that expresses a passion for life, albeit in a dramatic way.
