In this free cinematic transposition of the comedy of the same name by Eduardo De Filippo, the story is told of a poor choirboy who, camped out in a Neapolitan palace where he “feels”, believes he can identify a benevolent ghost as the one who is actually the suitor of his beautiful wife. Realizing the misunderstanding, the chorister pretends to kill his wife for reasons of honor, but actually hides her in the attic. After a few months, the two will find themselves more in love than ever. The last involuntary beneficial gesture of the unfortunate suitor will allow them to move to Scotland, where – as a couple of waiters – they will find themselves in an environment congenial to them, inhabited by patented ghosts.
