La vita, amico, è l’arte dell’incontro is an LP by Vinícius de Moraes, Giuseppe Ungaretti and Sergio Endrigo released by Fonit Cetra in 1969. The title of the album is taken from a phrase, contained in the recitative, of the song Samba delle benedizioni.
Vinícius de Moraes and Giuseppe Ungaretti had met in Brazil in 1937. Some time later, the Italian poet had translated and published a selection of poems by the Brazilian poet.
In 1969 de Moraes had stayed in Rome for a few months and, on that occasion, he had met Ungaretti again and, with the collaboration of Sergio Endrigo and Toquinho, this album, the first in Italian, had been recorded. Ungaretti had recited some poems by Vinicius that he had translated. The recording was made in a few hours and in a few recording sessions with the collaboration of RCA’s turn players.
