The son of a ‘maîtresse’ and a famous (deceased) conman, young Nick Hezard lives on petty scams, totally unworthy of his ‘great’ parent. Unwittingly providing him with the opportunity to emulate his exploits is, one day, the ‘boss’ Robert Turner, who, after using him to swindle insurance companies by faking a jewel theft, tried to kill him. In order to take revenge on Turner, who also killed his friend, Hezard starts, with the help of a team of expert swindlers, by snatching two hundred thousand Swiss francs from the ‘boss’ – who is forced to pay them to him in order to avoid bigger trouble. Financed, in this way, by his own victim, Nick moves on to the second part of the plan, which consists of translating Turner, under the accusation of a murder that never took place, into a fake police station; of subjecting him to a fake trial by a fake magistrate; of freeing him, on condition that he takes refuge in Venezuela, in exchange for the four million francs paid to him by the insurance company. Having fallen into the trap, Turner loses not only his money, but also his jewellery.
